Office Hours and Appointments
The office hours of Athens Bone and Joint are Monday through Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Our Friday hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. All patient visits are scheduled by appointment only.
Each of our physicians are limited to their time in the Athens Bone and Joint Clinic due to their scheduled surgery days. Our goal is to accommodate the patient's appointment request as quickly as possible. If there are any medical concerns that need to be addressed prior to the next scheduled appointment, please contact our office, and our front desk will direct you to one of our nurses.
Initial Consultations
Athens Bone and Joint will mail each new patient a package of paperwork containing all registration forms necessary for our office. Please complete these documents and bring them with you to your first appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time in order to complete your registration process. If time did not permit you to receive a new patient package, please click here to print the forms. Otherwise, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment, in order to complete the registration process.
Please make sure that you bring all medical records relating to your medical condition, including x-rays, MRI, CT Scans, and current medications that the patient is currently taking.
If your insurance plan requires any prior approval or referral, please contatct your Primary Care Physician or your health insurance company to obtain the necessary approval for full coverage.
If you have any personal changes within regards to address, phone numbers, health changes, please inform our front desk employees at your arrival.
Telephone Calls
Phone calls that are received in our office before 3:00 pm will be returned on the same business day. Any phone calls after 3:00 pm will be returned the following business day. However, if your condition is urgent and requires immediate attention, please inform the receptionist and she will have your call answered immediately.
After Hours Emergency Care
If you have a medical emergency after 5:00 pm, please contact 706.583.9000 and the answering service will page the on call health care professional. Your call will be returned in a timely manner and assist you in answering all your medical questions or needs.
Prescription Refills
Athens Bone and Joint does not provide prescription refills after hours or on the weekends. When your prescription is low, please contact your pharmacist/pharmacy and have them fax a refill request to our nurse's refill fax line 706.549.4795. These requests are filled within a few hours.
If a refill is needed and your pharmacist can not fax over a refill request, please contact our office during regular business hours and leave the nurse a voicemail. In this voicemail, please include patient's name, date of birth, medication, pharmacy name and phone number. The nurse will have the refill phoned in by the end of the business day. The patient should call their pharmacy after 5:00 pm to see if their medication is ready for pick up.
Forms
Athens Bone and Joint is willing to complete all forms (disability, leave of absence forms, worker's compensation), but there will be a small fee for the completion of these documents. It can take our office up to 10 days to have all forms or records ready for pick up. Please click here for our Forms Policy.
